Poetry is my Superpower is a six week poetry workshop for writers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Each session will begin with an anchor poem-- a poem whose theme or style will guide the learning on that day. Some topic include: spoken word poetry, using poetry to synthesize non-fiction research, and poetry as activism. Following a discussion of the anchor poem, style and technique, writers will have the opportunity to craft, edit, and share their own poems. Writers will learn the importance of finding a community to share, collaborate, and encourage. There will be a reading immediately following the final session.
