Dance Girls in Princess Dresses

Just bring your 18” doll and you imagination!  We’ll be making fun, craft items for dolls, learning how to create graphic art and video, holding a Doll’s Fashion Show and Tea Party.  Plus take part in additional exciting activities such as a “Top Chef” competition on the iPad and producing a video starring the dolls. All Materials Included!

Day 1: Doll Fashion Show- Girls will be Fashion Designers as they make non-sew tulle tutus for their dolls.  Let’s add some glamour with fashion accessories – add doll hair bows and matching girl and doll jewelry using beads and other craft items.  We’ll hold a Doll Fashion Show – girls and dolls walk the runway and take photos of their dolls on the iPad camera.

Day 2: Let’s pretend we are pastry chefs as we make clay doll cupcakes and cookies…and learn how to sculpt clay roses, buds and leaves too.  Then we will switch to creative iPad Art activities.  Let’s ‘bake’ and decorate iPad cakes and pretend we are in a Top Chef competition.  After our snack-time (as this did make everyone hungry!) we learn and explore puppet show video on the iPad.

Day 3: Today we are artists – let’s paint our clay food items from yesterday and add glitter or jewels if desired.  While we have on our smocks, we will also design and paint a Pillow Pet that glows in the dark – girls will sew it together tomorrow (must dry overnight).  Now let’s be floral designers as we create an arrangement using the clay roses, dried flowers and a tiny ceramic container. (No dolls today please – bring smock or wear old clothing – acrylic paints not washable when dry).

Day 4: Learn to hand-sew and stuff the pillow pet together.  Time to get ready – make party invitations and favors for the Doll’s Tea Party!  We will learn how to import girls and their doll photos into Puppet Pal to create a video show and try to develop a story about the dolls.

Day 5: Doll’s Tea Party-bring your doll dressed up for the party!  First, we complete our iPad puppet video showing our doll’s having fun at a party (I will upload videos to YouTube and send private link to parents).  Then we will have our “real” Tea Party with pretend tea (lemonade) for girls and play party games too.
